A job title cannot explain every part of a role. Applicants may find it useful to ask how a typical day is organised, what induction looks like and how development is supported. The answers should help both the applicant and the organisation consider whether the role is a good fit.
A starting point for discussion
Think about the practical arrangements that matter to you, including working patterns, travel and responsibilities outside work. Ask the employer for the current terms and written details. Avoid relying on assumptions or information from an older advertisement.
- What do we understand about the question?
- Whose perspective would help us explore it?
- What needs to be checked before any next step?
Agreeing the next step
Make a brief record of the questions raised and the action agreed. Keep identifying or confidential details within your organisation’s authorised systems. Revisit the conversation through the appropriate team or supervision arrangements.
