Learning continues after a course ends. A short discussion can help colleagues explain the idea they found most useful and consider how it relates to the questions arising in their own work. Begin with curiosity rather than expecting immediate change.

A starting point for discussion

Identify what requires clarification and which local arrangements need to be considered. Agree how the team will review the discussion and who can help with further questions. A useful conversation may reveal a need for more learning rather than a quick answer.

  • What do we understand about the question?
  • Whose perspective would help us explore it?
  • What needs to be checked before any next step?

Agreeing the next step

Make a brief record of the questions raised and the action agreed. Keep identifying or confidential details within your organisation’s authorised systems. Revisit the conversation through the appropriate team or supervision arrangements.

A question for reflection: what would a useful next conversation look like?
